STORY

Early in life Franklyn Mendiola, better known as DJ Finyl to his colleagues, found his interests in all types of music. It wasn’t until he came across legends such as Dr. Dre, DJ Shadow, & DJ Premier did he see himself pursuing production. “When I was 13, I had a Yamaha piano that was able to record your performance on disc. I tried to make Dr. Dre’s ‘Still D.R.E.’ and that was probably the first beat I ever made. I’ve been fascinated with production since.”

Las Vegas isn’t well recognized on the national scale, but DJ Finyl has been making some noise for quite some time. With just an MPC 4000, records, and collaborating with talented musicians his local buzz caught the national stage after becoming the 1st Las Vegas Red Bull Big Tune Champion. As of recently, his work can be heard on artists such as Nique’s “Wow”, Trayo’s “Concrete Tears” and most recently Illicism’s “Akira”. Well respected for his craft, you can be sure of amazement when you hear a DJ Finyl production. Finyl is also the production half of duo The Greater Good with rapper Marion Write. Their latest project “The Goodness EP” out early 2010 sent listeners on a journey of hip hop all scored by Finyl himself. Look out for more music from DJ Finyl.
